Founded in 2014 with approval from China’s Ministry of Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) inherits CUHK’s academic excellence while pioneering a globally connected, high-quality education model. It integrates Eastern and Western learning, fostering innovative talent with Chinese cultural roots and global vision.
The university comprises eight schools. It prioritizes cutting-edge research in AI, data science, biomedicine, energy, finance, and public policy, aligning with the Greater Bay Area’s development needs.
With a strong international focus, CUHK-Shenzhen partners with 140+ top universities in 30+ countries, offering 240+ exchange programs. Its faculty includes 600+ distinguished global scholars.
Admitting top-tier students (typically within China’s top 1-2% in national exams), CUHK(SZ) emphasizes holistic education through its seven colleges. Over 80% of graduates pursue advanced degrees, with 70% entering the world’s top 50 universities, reflecting its academic rigor and global reputation.
Neighboring the Universiade Park, CUHK(SZ) offers a green campus with modern facilities. It reflects both Chinese elements and Western charm, showing the concepts of "mountain, tree and courtyard". Living at CUHK-Shenzhen, you will have the chance to experience a vibrant community life and an inspiring atmosphere for study and research.
When studying at CUHK(SZ), students are guaranteed a place in a campus hostel. Rooms are assigned based on the Sister College system and availability, creating a community where students can connect with others and engage in studies.

CUHK(SZ) is located in the Longgang District of Shenzhen. To make it easy for students and faculty to move between campuses, there is a shuttle bus that runs regularly, allowing convenient travel for classes and other activities.

Students sign up for courses at CUHK(SZ) using the Student Information System (SIS), which helps manage academic records and schedules. Other application is handled directly by CUHK. Students can also take summer courses at either campus as long as there are no schedule clashes and their course load is manageable.

To help students during their time at the Shenzhen campus, each student is assigned an Academic Advisor from CUHK(SZ). These advisors offer personalized support, assisting with course choices, research opportunities, and overall academic growth.
